Standard batch-type photochemical reactor with a capacity between 400 and 700 ml.

The Batch-L photoreactor is the most requested and widely used type of batch equipment in the field of photochemistry for performing simple and preliminary tests with reaction volumes between 400 and 700 ml. Its simple and versatile design allows it to adapt to situations where the medium’s absorbance is not particularly high or where there is a lack of data to define a more specific reactor requirement. The radiation source is located in the reactor’s central axis to achieve optimal use of the emitted photons, while a cooling jacket is used to prevent overheating that could affect performance.
The reactor’s larger optical path (>2 cm) allows for the use of conventional magnetic stirrers to mix the solution. Generally, this type of stirring is sufficient for performing reaction feasibility tests as a first step for subsequent developments.
In addition to the standard ports found on most MPDS reactors—such as those for sampling, temperature sensors, and optical guides for radiometers—there is the option to use liquid filters to achieve precise selection of the desired wavelength if monochromatic UV light emitters are not being used.
