“Sideloop” side-flow photoreactor

Continuous side-flow photochemical reactor for laboratory testing. With cooling jacket and the possibility of using liquid filters.

Categoría:

Photochemical reactions can be carried out using batch (discontinuous), semi-batch (semi-continuous), or continuous flow reactors. Each of these methods has advantages and disadvantages that must be considered based on the desired reaction. One of the key issues to keep in mind is that batch reactors can only be scaled up to an industrial level with significant effort and time investment, and even then, inherent uncertainties may remain. To avoid this problem, semi-continuous or continuous reactors can be used, such as the Sideloop side-flow photoreactor, which simplifies scale-up by allowing for reaction kinetics analysis and consideration.

With this in mind, UV-Consulting Peschl offers a Sideloop side-flow photoreactor that can be used in batch, semi-batch, or continuous flow modes. This reactor operates vertically, occupying very limited space within the PhotonCabinet safety enclosure.

Among the features of this reactor, the following stand out:

  • Gas introduction into the reaction volume is possible.
  • Due to its advanced design, no additional ventilation is required.
  • Residence time is constant within the irradiated zone.
  • Tangential liquid entry allows for high turbulence levels.
  • The use of different tubes allows for adjustment of the optical path and reaction volume, even achieving thin-film reactor characteristics.
  • It can operate at very low flow rates to study the effect of over-irradiation.
  • An optional external cooling system allows for reaction temperature control.

Emitter that can be used:

  • NovaLight TQ 150 emitters.
  • NovaLight TXe 150 emitters.
  • NovaLight LP30x emitters.
